FAQs

Essentially, we have developed a new pricing structure to better reflect what students will actually pay for tuition once scholarships and other forms of institutional aid are applied. The tuition reset provides a more transparent and realistic “sticker price” for students and their families. We are undertaking this course of action because historically our mission has been to make college more accessible to as many students as possible. This tuition price reset continues that mission.

Averett University is committed to providing exceptional value through a high-quality, accessible education that empowers students to achieve both personal and professional success. We understand that the increasing reliance on student loans across the nation has created financial challenges that make it harder for graduates to build long-term stability. That’s why Averett listened carefully to students and families who are calling for meaningful action on college affordability.

For years, the University worked to make a difference through increased scholarships and institutional aid, but we recognized that this approach alone wasn’t sustainable. In response, Averett chose to take bold, forward-thinking action to make higher education more attainable and to reaffirm our mission of opportunity and access for all students.

We believe our tuition reset continues our positive momentum by “right pricing” our education and will open the doors to even more students who wish to take part in the Keystone experience.

The tuition reduction was paired with a corresponding adjustment in institutional aid, as Averett transitioned from a high-tuition/high-discount model to a more transparent and sustainable low-tuition/low-discount structure.

No. Averett has been intentional in positioning itself to rely primarily on core operating revenues from tuition and auxiliary services. Our revised tuition model focuses on reducing both the published price and the institutional discount, ensuring that most students’ net cost and the university’s net revenue remain largely consistent.

Any tuition increase deemed necessary will be as nominal as possible.

While Averett is working to streamline our offerings and focus on our premier programs, nothing has been cut or eliminated from the educational experience (in and out of the classroom) due to the tuition reset. Averett has always offered a high-quality, personal education, and retaining that  while reducing our tuition will improve our value equation.

Averett’s current published tuition price is rarely what students pay upon enrollment, because of comprehensive financial aid packages which are offered to approximately 99 percent of students. That complicated process often leaves many students and families confused about how much their education will really cost. By resetting tuition and including course fees, actual tuition costs will be less confusing and more transparent for everyone. Furthermore, by reducing tuition, we are also resetting, and in effect, lowering the baseline for future tuition Increases should they become necessary.

Averett scholarships and grants will be scaled according to the new tuition model. Merit scholarships will still be offered but in a different model than the “high discount” awards currently in effect. Averett is also committed to raising additional funds to support students in addition to the funds that are already available.
